What is Osteopathy ?

Osteopathy - A Holistic approach to natural Pain Relief

Osteopathy is a form of manual medicine which recognises the important link between the structure of the body and the way it functions. Osteopaths focus on how the skeleton, joints, muscles, nerves, circulation, connective tissue and internal organs function as a holistic unit. Using skilled evaluation, diagnosis and a wide range of hands-on techniques, Osteopaths may be able to identify dysfunction in your body. Osteopathic treatment uses techniques such as stretching and massage for general treatment of the soft tissues (muscles, tendons and ligaments) along with mobilisation of specific joints and soft tissues.

In Australia, Osteopaths are government registered practitioners who complete a minimum of five years’ University training in anatomy, physiology, pathology, general medical diagnosis and Osteopathic Techniques. Osteopaths are primary healthcare practitioners and are trained to recognise conditions which require medical referral. They are also trained to perform standard medical examinations of the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory and nervous systems. Osteopathy is covered by most private health funds and the Medical Enhanced Primary Care scheme. Osteopaths are registered providers for workers’ compensation schemes and motor accident insurers. Why Osteopathy might work for me?

We specialise in non-narcotic practices in healing pain such as headaches, chronic pain, joint pain, musculoskeletal discomfort and back pain. We may use an array of proven methods such as soft tissues massage, laser treatment, shockwave therapy (ESWT) and dry needling in our osteopathic care, and rehabilitation. Our goal is to treat and relieve your pain through a holistic management plan which may reduce the need to rely on using pharmaceuticals for permanent or temporary relief.

Osteopaths can treat many chronic and acute diseases, in addition to managing or suppressing them. Our Practitioners are able to provide a deeper knowledge and holistic approach towards the healing benefits by understanding the connections between mental, emotional, and physical complaints.

Tully may use dry needling uses fine filament needles to help loosen trigger points within the muscle fibres. Electro dry needling is a modified form of dry needling treatment that applies an electrical stimulation through the needle to prolong pain relief.

Shockwave Therapy

Extracorporeal Shockwave therapy (ESWT) is rapidly gaining a positive reputation in the treatment of a variety of musculo-skeletal conditions. Paul has used ESWT since 2016, this form of treatment is an excellent adjunct and may assist in breaking down chronic adhesions and restrictions.
